Strength

It is cool outside but sunny. It's pretty much the same all week--nice enough to go out but too cold to spend a long time outdoors.

I met up with a friend for a quick lunch at the mall. We walked around and looked at home stuff. She bought a block of knives for her new apartment with her husband. I did like a lot of stuff but decided not to buy any. It took a lot of will-power but I succeeded to control myself. I mean, I do not really need a set of cutting board with pictures of animals (cow, chicken, pig) telling me what kinds of cut each portion is, nor I do need a special cutter for loose leaf salads, a small, red, heart-shaped dutch oven, a Monday through Sunday printed mugs, etc. I mean, maybe I should not use a Monday mug if it is Saturday but early pre-coffee morning is not a time I can make intelligent decisions. They were all so cute though.

My friend did recommend an Asian grocery store close to her area. She is not Asian but I am. How could I not have gone to this store before she did? :) Anyway, I went and got a case of persimmon, so sweet that I do not crave other sweets for dessert after. I have one fruit for almost every meal.

This week was worse when it comes to family problems. But it is nice to get out. And focusing on gratitude really makes me feel better. So, here is my gratitude list.
  • A new Asian store, H-mart, to get frozen seafood and produce like the persimmon above.
  • A book I heard from Reese's book club. When I was feeling sad one morning, this book made me laugh. Some parts are funny.
  • The chapel at work I can easily visit for short prayers for my family and to calm my anxiety.
  • A visit with my therapist who gives me coping tools tailored for me.
  • New wellness app from my work where we earn points for tracking healthy activities.

  • Spending time with my obedient grandson. He is 9 months. I stopped him from going to the bathroom. He listened(but came back to me unhappy). You mean I could not play with the toilet grandma?
  • Having a cute grandson. I can write this same line every day. :)
  • My son, his dad, finishing a required class required after his ticket.

That is all for now. Like little Josiah, who gets stronger each day and learning to stand up, I, too CAN DO (with) HIM giving me power.

I pray for strength and resiliency.

Have a good weekend.

  2. Aww such an adorable child! Great at using will power while shopping. We have an Asian market nearby. I've been in there once and should go back. They have a restaurant there too.

  3. I’m so sorry this week was somewhat difficult, but I’m so happy for your thankfuls. I’m glad you have a chapel at work and work encourages healthy activities.

The part You wrote about the cutting boards made me chuckle.

  4. Your comments made me think of how many times I have "just looked" but passed by things because of the exact same kind of excuses you gave.

I am sorry about the family challenges you are facing, but glad that there is a chapel at work where you are able to take refuge and a therapist who is able to help provide helping tools for you.

I agree about how taking time to express gratitude can help one focus on the good things.

The smile of an innocent child even helps one feel joy amidst the angst.

Summer is in the Air

It's June! I haven't fully experience spring yet and it's almost summer. Where did the spring go? It is still here, I guess. I am between what to plant outdoors? Spring plants or Summer plants in relation to the best season to plant them. Oh, well, maybe both. At least, the probability of frost may be over. It is usually by Memorial day in Colorado. I have many reasons to be thankful aside from the nice weather suitable for planting. It is also a good season to hike. Look at my two-year-old grandson. He is a natural hiker. He just loves exploring the outdoors, perhaps more than my son, his dad, wants. He would pick up anything interesting in his eyes. Bugs? Dandelion? To me, as long as he does not try to taste them, is OK. :) My son caught a fish after trying so many times. Simple fun. My daughter playing "hair" with a Fuschia headpiece my niece, gave us something to smile about. I am planting again. My outdoor tower planter is full of tomatoes both from store bro

Sweet Times

Say hello to our new dog, Bando. He is an 8-week old boxer mix dog. We estimate he will grow and weigh up to 70 pounds. As my family got over the untimely death of our miniature poodle, Snowball, we all welcome this new baby, Bando, into the house. Josiah loves dogs and our dogs love him. They are all are very sweet.  We can't have too much sweetness in the house. So grandma got some cupcakes for them to decorate. Josiah decided to decorate his face instead though. It was a mix of cool nights and warm to hot days. It's nice to go out and be around the water, even man-made dams. We took a hike this morning. I am still growing plants, even indoors. Here is today's picture of my little aquaponics. Fish in the bottom, plants on top. I like these sprouts on my salad. I lost my father a few years ago. He died in the hospital after a few days stay. His passing, however painful to us, was a relief for him. I am thankful his suffering ended. I feel grateful for a good week. Happy

Week of Painting

I would post a picture of grand vacation but I don not have the money to go. What I have done are trips to the mall not to shop but to paint. Take a look at our work--simple and fun. My daughter enjoyed it too.
