April Thankfuls

My love for my family is so great,
My heart melts for them as we ate
I worry when my teens are away
Wondering if they've gone astray

Togetherness for me feels so great,
I do hope my children see
Although eating is what seems all we do
I wait for these moments, I sure do

We had a good Easter. We went to church. Even my son went, my 18-year old. Then we had a potluck with my Filipino-American group. My teens helped hide or scatter the Easter eggs for the little ones. They were so fun to watch.
***
My daughter made some Easter fruit bouquet. They are as delicious and refreshing as they look. She also made cookies for our neighbors who are relocating, nicely foil wrapped disguised as fish. She baked and paid for the cookies. How sweet she is.
***
At work, I found time to pray and meditate a bit when I left the unit early (as we were overstaffed). I volunteered to leave because it was "4/20" in Denver. That is when marijuana fanatics have big parties in downtown. I went to spend time with my teens after school. I was so happy that they went to school the whole day and spent after school time with me having dinner and just talking. I know exactly where they were!
***
I ordered bracelets with encouraging words for me and my daughter. They are not here yet but we are excited.
***
I bought one more Fitbit activity tracker that is waterproof so I can wear it in the pool. I used my, yet another, 20% coupon. Every step counts. Yes, I am a step counter addict and I'm not seeking help. :)
***
And lastly, I won another trophy for my steps this week. Little things like this keep me motivated to move.
What kept you busy this past week?

  1. Such a happy, positive tone to this whole list, Carin, it made me happy just to read it! I love your poem, I can relate to how much joy it gives a mother to spend time with her two nearly adult children together. I am glad you spent time with them on 4/20 too, I know that gave you peace of mind. Getting off early was a blessing to you that day for sure, time for prayer and meditation is always cherished!

It sounds like you had a very nice Easter, I am glad your kids went with you to church, and then along to help with the party. Your daughter making those delicious looking fruit treats and also cookies for the neighbors was wonderful! She obviously has inherited her mother's caring heart! I really like those bracelets, they are simple design and a very good reminder, a fun thing for you to share with her!

I didn't even know they made underwater Fitbits for pool use, that's great! You are doing amazing with your determination on step counting. Congratulations on another trophy! And yes, those 20% off coupons at Bed, Bath and Beyond make a big difference. I can almost always find a 40% off one for Hobby Lobby for things that aren't on sale too, it's another favorite place for me to shop for fun things!

I hope the coming week is another good one for you, thank you so much for sharing your gratitude with us at TToT!

  2. I do love my FitBit. I just got the Alta which also registers heart rate and picks up texts and phone calls. I also got some interchangeable colored bands so I can coordinate it with anything. I'm sure you get a lot of steps at your job. When my family is together I am happy. There is nothing else to say. Sharing a meal and conversation is so comforting. My adult children live a short distance away and I'm always happy when we get together. Your daughter's fruit creation is fantastic. There is a story called Edible Arrangements that makes fruit bouquets. Very expensive. It's nice you have that talent at home. Have a good week.

    1. Edible Arrangement is very expensive. Pretty but pricey.

  3. Do not have the 'fitbit thing, though I do think about the amount of exercise I can get in the course of a day. Try to run instead of weak up the stairs at my office. I am not tied to a desk, which is good, but I do spend more time sitting than standing. Try to work in the yard on the days I get home for lunch.
    Have a good week

  4. There are so many distractions and wrong paths available to our kids today. Dinner together is a great way to convey your love and to stay in touch with what is on their minds.

  5. Those fruit bouquets look lovely! And how thoughtful of your daughter to make cookies for your neighbours. I must admit, I enjoy food very much as well and love eating, especially when we get to go out!

I didn't realise you could get waterproof fitbits. I'm sure it'll keep you on track :)

  6. Delightful TToT post! Foil wrapped cookies disguised as fish needs a photo. It sounds like you have not only a thoughtful daughter, but a creative one. Spending time with your teens and knowing exactly where they are is a plus. I'm glad you had such an enjoyable gathering on Easter.
