Birthday 47 Gratitude

It is my birthday and I am thankful for
Some ten, not four
Or maybe more
Who's keeping score?
Not me for sure
But here I go
I am thankful for:

  1. Gluten-free birthday cake from Whole Foods store
  2. A pill organizer my daughter is actually using
  3. Old picture of my son playing
  4. A convenient place for car washing
  5. An outdoor place for dog walking
  6. A fave restaurant for birthday feasting
  7. A selfie of me and daughter smiling
  8. The church that inspires me to keep praying
  9. A spring wellness challenge I'm participating
  10. A silly shirt my daughter thinks is annoying
(Sometimes parents should annoy their teens too!)

I turned 47 yesterday. My week is not over celebrating
Have a good weekend.

  1. HAPPY BIRTHDAY Carin! 47 is a great age, and you wear it well! Your cake was so pretty too! I am glad you are celebrating, birthdays are a good thing to have! :-) This was such a fun post, a great bunch of smiles for my morning! I loved your intro poem and the clever way you listed your thankfuls.

We use pill organizers too, and would surely forget what we've taken if we didn't. The one for your daughter is cute, so I'm glad she liked it. Looking at younger pictures of my son makes me miss them, kids grow up way too fast!

Good places for dog walking and car washing where you live in the winter are real blessings! A church that feels like home is a wonderful thing too, it helps you keep your faith in focus. Where would we be without prayers?!

I like that you are participating in another health challenge, always doing things to improve and stay in good shape, that's a great birthday gift to yourself, and one you will be thankful for later in life!

I loved your t-shirt when I saw the photo on Instagram. Yes, every now and then it is fun to annoy our children, just as they do us at times. :-) Mom's have the right to do silly fun things too! :-)

Blessings to you in the year ahead, I wish you lots of wonderful memories in the making! XO

  2. Happy Birthday, Carin. That cake looks amazing. I've never seen a circular pill container. I kind of like it. Although it is not quite spring here, a wellness/fitness challenge is a good idea in the season before summer. Good luck with it. Have a good week.

  5. Happy Belated Birthday Carin! I'm glad you're still celebrating...it's a rule that if you're birthday falls on a Friday you get to celebrate the entire weekend! :D Actually, that's wonderful you are celebrating for as long as you want :)
Such a nice list of thankfuls.
Surely, the dog appreciates the walking too!! That sounds great, the spring wellness challenge. They always sound so intimidating to me. Good luck!!

  6. Happy Birthday! (technically, it (the celebration of another year on the planet) could be argued, should last for 365 days!)

  10. Aw, Happy Birthday and this post reminds me of that song, Twelve Days of Christmas.

    :-)

Geese and golden rings and French hens and all that.

Overdue Gratitude

Hello, hello. I am here after two months. I have been meaning to write my gratitude but did not get myself to sit down and actually type and post it. My daughter turned 21, an adult but still young at heart and spirit. She is my forever baby and youngest and smallest.  We celebrated 2020 style, just me and her in Estes. We stayed in a condo with a nice view. The place was by the stream and the water was not all frozen yet. We could hear the water flowing with its relaxing nature sound. We walked outdoors in with the cold breeze. Surprise, surprise, we were the only ones outdoors. The masks, I must admit, felt good to wear as our breath, at least, bouncing back on our face felt warm. Paul and I celebrated our two-months anniversary in a neighboring state and ordered takes-outs. We hang out (in?) ate, drank, and talked. The drive was beautiful passing by packs of rams unsuspecting of the cars passing by. We finally got our professional wedding (and video) shots. They are all beautiful in
